Choosing Between A Fixed Or A Ventilating Skylight

A skylight is one of those features that almost every person wants to have in his home. Skylights help light up the interior of the building even when no lights are turned on. They add beauty not only to the interior but to the exterior as well. It is not a surprise if you have decided to have a skylight installed in your home. But before you go shopping, you must first decide what type of skylight to get – a fixed one or a ventilating one. The fixed skylight The fixed skylight is the traditional skylight that is simply installed in your house. It is fixed and you could not open it. The reason why most people choose a fixed skylight is that it is more affordable than a ventilation skylight. If you want a skylight to be installed in the highest areas in your home that you could not reach, then the fixed skylight is ideal for you. The ventilating skylight The main difference between the ventilating skylight and a fixed skylight is that the ventilating skylight can be opened allowing fresh air to come flow freely to the interior. It is a little bit more expensive than the fixed skylight.
