Plan, Calculate and then Install Skylights

Installing skylights on the roof to beautify your interiors? Are you familiar with the guidelines on skylight installations? What are the basic considerations to be noted before and after installing skylights? The first and foremost decision to be made when installing skylights is on the place. Where do you like to install skylight? In the bedroom, kitchen or the living room? Pick your choice and then see if the skylight will give the desired effect to that particular room as intended. A Brief Guide for the Installation of Skylight on a Metal Roof

A roof skylight is elegant and extremely useful. Imagine the view of your room when the natural light comes through the skylight. Your whole room gets a beautiful glow and it would remain warmer during the day. You might think that the installation process is extremely complex and daunting especially if you have a metal roof. It is not always true. With the right tools and the right effort, you yourself can install a roof skylight to add that extra look to your home. After you have gathered the right tools, wear protective clothing and climb up the ladder. The first step is to decide where you want to place the skylight and measure the skylight you purchased. Then, draw the measurements on the roof and cut out the part using a circle saw or a side grinder. Create a frame using the lumber and place it carefully on the hole using four angle brackets. Set the skylight properly above it. Create another frame and place it over the skylight. Seal the openings on the roof that run along the skylight. Use screws to tightly screw down the frames. Caulking around the uppermost frame and pressing down the roof skylight gently will ensure a long lasting skylight. Use a color that matches the color of the roof and paint the frames to make the skylight appear cleaner.
