Skylight replacement: Easier than ever!

If you have an old skylight somewhere in your home, you may think replacement will be a pain. But new skylight replacement is easier than ever. The skylight window itself has come a very long way. Before, it was fairly difficult to install and replacing it was even tougher. Only a skilled contractor could put one of these in and not flood your floor the next time there was a big rain. And not even he could do any of it very quickly. But now, all that has changed with new technology. You can actually have your old skylight replaced with a new one in only a couple of hours. A contractor can have it replaced and ready to go before you are even back from your lunch. And if you have any roof experience, you can even do it all on your own. It really is that simple to do. The changes have been because of new research and development that has gone into the technology of making skylights and making them easy for customers to install. That is just what has been done, too. Replacing your skylight is no longer a headache. You can do it with ease now.

Skylight installation: New technology

Skylight installation has definitely come a long way. Where it was difficult before, it is now so easy that a contractor can do it, and so can you. In the past, a wood curb would have to be built in the roof after the whole was cut for the skylight. This allowed the skylight to sit in something and hold up for more than fifteen minutes. This often created a problem because every time the skylight was replaced, the curb would have to be removed and rebuilt usually because it wouldn’t fit perfectly with the new window design. But with new skylight technology, this isn’t the case at all. When you cut the hole for the skylight, you are cutting a hole for the window and frame in one piece. No wood curb is needed because the frame is actually built to support itself without the assistance of anything. In a sense, the wood curb is already in the frame of the window and installation involves just putting in the window. It can’t get much easier than that. The installation of skylights is not nearly as tough as it used to be. It has been recreated to work better for you.
