How to Install a Skylight without external help
Windows on the roof of the house bring in more light and help to make the house brighter. Skylight installation is not a hard task and you can even do it for yourself at home. You begin by cutting and framing the opening. Ensure you follow the manufactures instructions so that you can do a good job. Next, cut back the roofing to get space for attaching the skylight. Use screws or nails for the skylight so that it can be firm. After this, you are supposed to slip in the underlayment. Do this carefully so that you do not destroy the shingles.
When you are done, you are supposed to install the bottom flashing around the skylights. Do this horizontally on the skylight and not vertically on the roof. Slip pieces of individual step flashing in such a way that they overlap by around 4 inches. The final step is to place the solid flashing pieces. These pieces are designed to fit the skylight tightly so that water cannot pass between the sky light and the step flashing. First, attach the bottom part and move on to the top part that is referred to as the head flashing. This is where you slip it under the roof and attach it to the skylight.
