Skylight Repair - A Few Basic Tips

Skylights are nothing but horizontal windows that are located at the roof of buildings and are generally used for day lighting. These devices allow an even distribution of light over a space. Thanks to technical innovations, today there are various styles of sunlights available in the market – right from traditional ones to technically advanced and trendy ones. However, all of these sunlights have to face different problems such as leaking resulting in severe property damage. Continuous leakage over a longer period of time can lead to the following damages to your property: Mold and mildew - Water leaking through skylight during rains enter the space between the roof and interior ceiling. The insulation of ceiling soaks up the water and allows the growth of mold and mildew. This mold and fungi are more frequently seen in enclosed places. Rotten drywall or wood - Water leaking through can led to damage of your wooden furniture. This kind of infection is first caught on drywall in form of stain marks. Floor damage – Leaking water can accumulate on the floor. Mopping the water frequently will not guarantee that there will not be much damage to the floor as an amount of moisture always remains. As soon as house owners see such damages, they need to contact professional housing contractors for skylight repair.
