Skylight, sky bright, first star I see tonight… Let’s understand the magic of skylights!

When making a decision to install skylights for home, it is imperative that selection is done based on what will enhance your home’s existing architecture. To avoid damaging the structure of your roof, it is also important to check the width of the roof’s rafters and to ensure compliance with the relevant building codes. The latest skylight models come with self-flashing kits that alert the owners when there are leaks to the skylight. You will also need to consider whether you want a static skylight or one that is motorized. The motorized ones allow you to open the skylight windows every once in a while and come with remote controls that are easy to operate. Alternatively there are skylights that have sensors in them that detect when to open or close, depending on the temperature. While these have certain advantages, it may be better in the long term to have one that you are in control of. It is also useful to remember that it is possible to install ultraviolet filters in the skylight to protect the interior of your home from direct sunlight which may, in the long term, cause interior furnishing to fade. In addition, such filters are useful for insulation and energy conservation purposes as well.
