Steps to Install a Skylight
Looking to add a natural glow to your home? Then installing skylight windows is the way to go. This sound like too much work so here are some simple steps you can follow when installing skylight. You need first to have the blueprint of the house, which will help you in choosing the best position to install the skylights.
When you find the location you want to install the skylight windows, mark it with a pen. You can locate the rafter using a stud finder. The main point you should remember is to cut as few rafters as you can. Allocate space for the upper and the lower ends of the windows and the header boards. Now after properly marking the spot, cut out the area that will house the skylights.
After removing all the ceiling materials mark the exterior corner locations of the skylight by driving in a nail through to protrude through the roof. Remove all the shingles and now cut through the rafters and wood cover.
Frame the edges with the header boards. Join the corners using a hanger and install other roofing so that you can put in the windows to their right place. Seal the skylight windows according to the instruction given by the manufacturer.
